ARCIT's BACKGROUND

    Who joins ARCIT? 
      Texas cities 50,000 population and under
      Counties 200,000 and under
      Economic Development Corporations and Utility Districts in qualifying cities and counties
    
    What is ARCIT about? 
      
 Local Official resource arm for rural cities and counties, economic development corporations and utility districts in Texas working with the State  Legislature, State Agencies and the Federal  government to promote the best practices of rural policies and programs

   When was ARCIT formed?
     Articles of Incorporation were drafted and approved January 26, 2001

   
Why did ARCIT form?
      The original 69 cities, counties and economic development corporations wanted to be a rural local official resource regarding House Bill 7 that created the Office of Rural Community Affairs in the 77th Texas Legislature.

   
Where is ARCIT headed?
      With our current 300 members and growing, ARCIT has expanded to working with a multitude of State and Federal agencies and legislative bodies dealing with a myriad of rural policies, issues and programs.  ARCIT's 7 year vision includes membership growth to 500 rural cities/counties/EDCs/utility districts in order to be an rural local official resource regarding rural issues, policies and programs at both the state and federal level.
